Is Sonic 3 the best film in the series? Yes. However, I still have major issues with this franchise. My review is up at Screen International.

Cary Elwes costars in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. I used that opportunity to ask him about his funniest characters. This was very fun.

Comedies With Twist Endings
We tend to think of dramas having big twist endings. But, every once in a while, a comedy pulls the rug out from under its audience. For Cracked, I looked at some of the most memorable examples, and discussed whether the twists worked.

Steve Carell Is the King of Nice
With Minions: The Rise of Gru about to come out, it seemed like a good time to assess Steve Carell's career up to this point. I wrote about his artistic modesty for MEL.

Sonic the Hedgehog wasn't expected to be a big hit, but it was. Now, we've been blessed with a sequel, which might be even worse. My Screen International review is here.

Why Is Verizon Aligning Itself With 'The Cable Guy'?
For the Super Bowl, Verizon is doing a commercial featuring Jim Carrey in his Cable Guy role. I don't think they understand what that movie's about. Here's my latest for MEL.

What's Jim Carrey's Best Movie?
With Sonic the Hedgehog now out, we decided to spend some time going back through Jim Carrey's oeuvre. It's a fascinating career. We ranked all his films for Vulture.
The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: 'Downhill,' 'The Photograph' and 'Sonic the Hedgehog'
This week on the podcast, we review a so-so relationship comedy, a darn good relationship drama and a movie about a hedgehog. (I also talk smack about Fantasy Island.) Hear the whole thing below.

Jim Carrey and 'The Dead Pool'
It was 1988. Jim Carrey was trying to make his name as an actor. And then he was cast as a rock star with a drug problem. For MEL, I wrote about that time Carrey lip-synced to a Guns N' Roses song in a Clint Eastwood movie. Hope you enjoy.

Some Thoughts on 'Kidding'
The new Showtime series Kidding is a maddeningly uneven affair. But I'll keep watching because of Jim Carrey. I go into that, and some other things about the show, over at MEL.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Naughty Puppets and 'Eternal Sunshine'
On this week's episode, we look back at summer movie season and dispense with The Happytime Murders. But then we dig into 2004's Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which remains terrific. You can hear the entire podcast down below.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Superheroes, 'Jim & Andy' and 'Slap Shot'
On this week's podcast, Will and I lament how bad Justice League is. Then, we focus our energies on two Netflix films: the Sundance favorite Mudbound and the rather remarkable Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. Finally, in our Reboot segment, I finally get around to watching Paul Newman's Slap Shot. (It's about hockey.) You can hear the whole thing down below.

Misleading Men: Jim Carrey
For my latest installment of Misleading Men at MEL, I wrote about Jim Carrey, who's the star of a new documentary called Jim & Andy. It's about Carrey's transformation into Andy Kaufman for Man on the Moon, which I think is a great movie. Jim & Andy examines what went on during the movie, and what happened to Carrey afterward. I talk about the film and him here.
