'Crisis in Six Scenes' Review
Woody Allen makes a move to the small screen for Crisis in Six Scenes, his 1960s-set political satire for Amazon. How is it? Slightly worse than Irrational Man and Cafe Society. Slightly better than Magic in the Moonlight. Yeah, sorta in that neither/nor range. My review is up at The Wrap.

'The Exorcist' Review
On Friday, Fox debuts The Exorcist, a small-screen reboot of the super-popular 1970s horror classic. (I actually don't love the movie that much, but that's for another time.) Anyway, what do I think of the show? It is, uh, really atmospheric. My review is up at The Wrap.

Hooray for 'Better Things'
Better Things, the new show from Pamela Adlon, is pretty darn good and, more importantly, it's not just a Louie knockoff. It's its own beast, and I'm glad FX has renewed it for a second season. Over at The Wrap, I talk about why the show matters.

'Atlanta' Review
Atlanta is the brainchild of actor and rapper Donald Glover. I was taken by this show from the start: It stars him as a directionless young man trying to get his life together. Atlanta is about Southern life, hip-hop, racism and other worthy topics, but it's light on its feet. I reviewed the series for The Wrap.

'Gomorrah' Review
My memory of the film Gomorrah is fuzzy, but I was sucked in by the Italian TV series that is adapted from the same source material as the movie. Sundance TV is showing the first season starting tonight -- we don't need any more mob dramas but, man, this one's real good. My review is up at The Wrap.

'The Get Down' Review
Baz Luhrmann's The Get Down streams on Netflix starting tomorrow. People know that it's been a troubled production, but is the show any good? I've seen the first three episodes, and thus far I think it's a soap opera-y mess. When the show traces the early days of hip-hop in New York City, it can be fun. But too much of the time, the series tries to be something else. My review is up at The Wrap.

'The Night Of' Review
Is The Night Of as good as you've heard? Yeah, basically. I reviewed HBO's superb new series for The Wrap.

'Roadies' Review
There's no point in kicking Cameron Crowe when he's down. But I found Roadies increasingly irksome over the three episodes that were made available to critics. The show looks at the road crew for a touring rock 'n' roll band, and although Luke Wilson is quite likable, the series is too darn cutesy. My review is up at The Wrap.

'Animal Kingdom' Review
Animal Kingdom was one of my favorite films of 2010. Now, it's been turned into a TV series, which (three episodes in) is only so-so. Ellen Barkin is a hoot as a crime family's trashy matriarch, but I'm not sure there's enough else here to recommend. I reviewed the TNT drama for The Wrap.

'Inside Amy Schumer' Review
Season Four of Inside Amy Schumer kicks off Thursday night. Today at The Wrap, I talk about the first two episodes -- and why this exemplary series is mostly competing with its own sterling reputation, which proves to be a good and bad thing. Read all about it here.

'Confirmation' Review
Kerry Washington is Anita Hill in Confirmation, the new HBO movie about the infamous 1991 Clarence Thomas hearings. (By the way, am I the only person who thinks of this Sonic Youth song whenever Hill is mentioned?) It's a smart, straightforward, entertaining, slightly dutiful retelling, as I explain in my review for The Wrap.

'The Girlfriend Experience' Review
Based on Steven Soderbergh's 2009 film, Starz's series The Girlfriend Experience starts off as an entertaining, stylish look at a driven law student (payed by Riley Keough) who gets seduced by the world of upscale prostitution. Then, something changes, and I think the show gets even better. I reviewed the series for The Wrap.

'Archer' Review
Archer returns tonight to FX. It's as charmingly immature as ever, as I note in my review over at The Wrap. (And I'm so happy my "Phrasing!" joke didn't get cut.)

'Pee-wee's Big Holiday' Review
To watch Pee-wee's Big Holiday is to be reminded what made Mr. Herman such a delight in the first place. Pee-wee's gonzo sweetness, his inclusive world, it's all here in this uneven, very silly, pretty pleasurable Netflix film. You can read my review over at The Wrap.

'Party Over Here' Review
Andy Samberg and the rest of the Lonely Island have a new late-night show on Saturdays called Party Over Here. They're not the stars, though: Instead, it's three up-and-coming comics, Nicole Byer, Alison Rich and Jessica McKenna. So far, I'm not too impressed, which you'll be able to gather from my review in The Wrap.

'Love' Review
No, not the Gaspar Noe film. This is the new Netflix series co-created by Judd Apatow that stars Gillian Jacobs and co-creator Paul Rust as L.A. thirtysomethings looking for, you guessed it, love. But they're looking for other things, too, which helps this series stand out a bit. I reviewed the first season for The Wrap.

'Horace and Pete' Review
Over the weekend, we got the surprise that Louis C.K. has been working on a new TV series, Horace and Pete, and that its first episode was available, like, now. For The Wrap, I reviewed the pilot, which is an intriguing, sometimes very engaging piece of old-school drama. Meant to feel like a theater piece, Horace and Pete is stagy, showy and also very interesting in terms of how it shows C.K.'s aesthetic projected into a new dramatic realm. My review is live now.

'Angie Tribeca' Review
Tonight, TBS premieres its Rashida Jones-starring cop parody Angie Tribeca. For fans of Airplane! and Police Squad!, this is the kind of smart-stupid (or is that stupid-smart?) show you've been waiting for. I reviewed the series for The Wrap.

'Shadowhunters' Review
Hoo boy, is Shadowhunters dumb. The new TV series from ABC Family, which is now called Freeform, has a pilot directed by McG. That's how dire things are, folks. My review is up at The Wrap.

'The Magicians' Review
The Magicians premiered tonight on Syfy, and the show appears to want to be a sexy Harry Potter. Did you want that in your life? No, no you did not. I reviewed the pilot for The Wrap.
