So, Who Directed the 'Lightyear' Movie Back in the 1990s?

Angus MacLane is the director (and co-writer) of Lightyear. But because the movie is supposed to be something that Toy Story's Andy watched back in the mid-1990s, that means someone else actually made the thing. So which filmmaker of that era would have most likely been the guy? For MEL, I came up with 10 possible choices, but I think my No. 1 pick is correct. Hope you enjoy.

'13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi' Review

I'll say this about 13 Hours: I think it contains some of the most visceral filmmaking Michael Bay has ever achieved. But, you know how it is -- eventually, people in his movie start to talk, and then he starts doing the nonsense in his films that always drives you nuts. I think this could be a pretty big hit, though. My review is up at Popular Mechanics.

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Review

The worry about rebooting a beloved property is that the filmmakers will misplace the material's charm in the process. I'm not sure if anyone would call the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "beloved," but an argument can be made that there was a sweetness to the characters underneath the martial arts shenanigans. Produced by Michael Bay, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a dark rethinking of the franchise -- there's even a Dark Knight joke, har har har -- and, boy, is it a bummer. 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Review

Mark Wahlberg is an upgrade over Shia LaBeouf, and Age of Extinction was the Transformers movie I've liked best. But, really, none of that matters: This sequel stinks. My review is up at Deadspin.
