Why Do We Care If Actors Look Like Their Real-Life Subjects?

Inspired by the rumored casting news about the Beatles biopics, I decided to write an essay about our obsession with whether or not an actor resembles the real person they're playing. My argument: It matters less than we realize.

'Breakfast All Day': Debating 'Strays'

Christy Lemire had me on Breakfast All Day to talk about Strays, which she liked a lot more than I did. Is it because she has a Boston Terrier? We got into that, and other things, in this episode.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Blue Beetles, Talking Dogs and Looking Back at Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine'

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Going Back to 'Collateral' and 'Dog Day Afternoon'

This week's episode only features one new review, the so-so Beast. But the real fun comes from our two Reboot movies, a classic Los Angeles crime film and a classic New York crime film. You can hear the whole thing down below.

Now that the folks who came up with John Wick have started branching out into other films, Will and I decided to put together a little guide to these non-John Wick properties. Not surprisingly, these movies often ... feel like John Wick movies, except with some small differences. Our rankings are live over at Vulture.

One real good movie, two not-so-good movies: That's the story of this week's episode. I'll let you guess which is which, or you can just listen down below.

What's the Difference Between a Stupid-Dumb Action Movie and a Smart-Dumb Action Movie?

And what does Project Power have to do with it? I explain all over at MEL.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Boys State, Power Pills and 'The Scarlet Letter'

Two new movies on this week's episode: One is good (Boys State), one is not (Project Power). Then, in our Reboot segment, we look back at 1995's mega-bomb The Scarlet Letter. (Our Reboot requester's note to us made it all worthwhile.) Hear the whole thing down below.

'Project Power' Review

Superpowers! Political commentary! Rapping! I wasn't too enthused by Project Power.
