The second-to-last film to screen in Competition -- Macbeth is tomorrow -- Chronic stars Tim Roth as a nurse who cares for the gravely ill in Los Angeles. But is he too close to his patients for his (and their) own good? Filmmaker Michel Franco, making his English-language debut, works in an austere style that, mostly, succeeds. And Roth is quite good.
