Eventually, every movie star gets his or her Die Hard. For Daisy Ridley, that movie is Cleaner, which I reviewed for Screen International.

'Young Woman and the Sea' Review
It seems like Disney is sorta burying Young Woman and the Sea this weekend. This biopic of long-distance swimmer Trudy Ederle is hardly a disaster, but I nonetheless found it fairly straightforward. My review is here.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: 'Coming 2 America,' 'Chaos Walking' and Our Oscar Nomination Predictions
Forget the two new movies we review: It's more worthwhile to check out our conversation about this very weird Oscar season. You can hear the whole episode down below.

Reconsidering the New 'Star Wars' Trilogy
After reading Kelly Marie Tran's Hollywood Reporter profile, in which she talks about the racism she faced online from being in the new Star Wars movies, I was struck by a thought: I don't think those movies were worth the trouble to make. I explain what I mean over at MEL.

'Chaos Walking' Review
Chaos Walking was shot several years ago, but reshoots, the actors' schedules and COVID kept delaying the film's release. That time has only made this sci-fi/young-adult drama feel even more dated. I reviewed the movie for Screen International.

'Press Play With Madeleine Brand': 'Yesterday,' Creepy Dolls and 'Ophelia'
Yesterday, I headed over to the beautiful new offices of KCRW to talk about this weekend's movies alongside Alicia Malone. We reviewed Annabelle Comes Home, Ophelia and Yesterday. When the offerings are this so-so, you end up getting a little goofy, which is definitely what happened. Hear the whole thing here.

Sundance 2018: 'Ophelia' Review
Daisy Ridley puts down the lightsaber for Ophelia, a feminist reworking of Hamlet. Does it work? As I explain for The Times of London, no. You can read my piece here. (You'll need to subscribe to read the while thing.)

Last Thoughts on 'The Last Jedi'
Critics loved The Last Jedi. General audiences are having a fit about the movie. Why the disconnect? It's one question I tackled in my latest piece for MEL. (I also picked the film's MVP and rendered my verdict on the Porgs.) Check it out here.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Let's Talk About 'The Last Jedi'
This episode is dedicated entirely to The Last Jedi. It was recorded on December 11. We had both seen the movie but hadn't discussed it with each other. So, this is a pretty unfiltered look at our thoughts. There are plenty of spoilers. Hope you enjoy.

'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Review
A huge improvement on The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi is a thrilling and more thoughtful sequel. I have a few quibbles, though. You can read my review over at Screen International.
