In the early 1990s, Glenn Summerford was a snake-handling Pentecostal minister who was convicted of attempted murder. (He tried to kill his wife by forcing her hand into the snakes' case.) The filmmaking team of Theo Love and Bryan Storkel have now made Alabama Snake about the case and the legend that's grown around it.
For MEL, I spoke to the guys about our endless fascination with Appalachia, where faith fits into this story, and why snake-handing is so evocative.
