danger mouse, sparklehorse, david lynch - dark night of the soul

To celebrate the official release (finally) of Dark Night of the Soul, how about the title track for our Friday? I sure do miss Mark Linkous.

sparklehorse - it's a wonderful life

Today's video was a happy accident. I woke up this morning and decided that whatever artist came up first on my iTunes when I hit "shuffle" would be my Friday Video. The winner was Sparklehorse. So, searching around online I found this clip that Canadian director Guy Maddin put together for "It's a Wonderful Life." Sparklehorse's music just seems to fit with certain directors. Previously, I had always gotten a David Lynch vibe from his work. But Maddin's old-timey style nicely complements his music as well.

who loves the shins?

I do. You should too. And with their new single, "Phantom Limb," there's more to love.

Elsewhere in Consumables, I gush about Sonic Youth, Sparklehorse, and the best hip-hop album of the year: The Coup's Pick a Bigger Weapon.
