Toronto 2026: 'A Talent for Murder' Review
I've been a fan of Alden Ehrenreich's for a while, and I'm glad that Solo did not derail his career. He's back with A Talent for Murder, in which he plays an anxious editor trying to convince the reclusive Patricia Highsmith (Helen Mirren) to write another Tom Ripley book. This impish thriller is potentially a lot of nasty fun, but it ends up disappointing. You can read my review over at Screen International.

A Short History of the Golden Globes' Strangest Nominations
The Golden Globes are dumb. To illustrate my point, let's take a quick look back at their most boneheaded nominations. (And, to make it fair, I didn't spotlight movies or performances that also got love elsewhere. You can't yell at them for liking Green Book when everybody else did as well.)

Three substantial discussions this week. First, we differ on Under the Silver Lake. Then, we look back at Boogie Nights, which I haven't watched since 1997. Finally, we stomach The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover. Hear the whole thing down below.

What's the Best "Best Actress" Winner of the 21st Century?
Putting together a ranking of this century's Best Actress Oscar winners, I quickly discovered something: Most of these women got their award for a performance I don't much like. (The Academy sure makes a lot of dumb choices.) Anywhere, here's my rundown of everyone from The Queen's Helen Mirren to The Iron Lady's Meryl Streep.
