Cerrone - "Supernature (Instrumental 'Climax' Edit)"

There are several versions of this 1977 disco track floating around. But I chose the one used in Gaspar Noe's Climax. (Thanks to Christine and the Queens for reminding me of it.)

La Bionda - "One for You, One for Me"

My favorite musical discovery at this year's Venice Film Festival? This 1978 disco track. Appropriately, it's from an Italian duo.

My Interview With Dua Lipa

When I sat down to interview Dua Lipa, her single "Houdini" wasn't out yet. Nobody knew what her new album would sound like. But she was clearly thinking about the future, while also reveling in her great Barbie song "Dance the Night." We talked about all that, and also Persona, for the Los Angeles Times.

The Andrea True Connection - "More, More, More"

I blame a recent rewatch of The Last Days of Disco.

When the World Hated Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"

Rod Stewart wanted to make a song that captured the spirit of the disco craze. And out came a No. 1 hit that lots of people despised. For MEL, I did a deep dive into "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?"

Donna Summer - "Hot Stuff"

I have this album on vinyl and can listen to it whenever I want.

Let's Talk About "Stayin' Alive'"

In honor of the new Bee Gees documentary, I did a deep dive into this Saturday Night Fever hit. That required me to listen to a lot of Bee Gees over the last several days. (I didn't mind.) My article is up on MEL.

"Macho Man" and Donald Trump

The Village People hit is back in the news thanks to Donald Trump ... and Anderson Cooper. I explain the backstory over at MEL.
