Actor-turned-director Billie Piper has cited Paul Thomas Anderson as one of her inspirations for her feature debut Rare Beasts. Based on the evidence, I'd say she watched Punch-Drunk Love a time or two while working on her tonally wild anti-romantic comedy. Sad to say, it doesn't quite work.
