The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Deadpool and Wolverine, Curtis and Samantha, Mikey and Nicky
Three unforgettable duos are the highlight of this week's podcast. First, we review Deadpool & Wolverine. Then, we dig into two great Reboot suggestions. There's Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain in Take Shelter. And there's Peter Falk and John Cassavetes in Mikey and Nicky. Check it out down below.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: 'The Bikeriders,' 'Fancy Dance' and 'Colonel Blimp'
On this week's episode, we review two new movies, one of which we differ on. But the real highlight is our conversation around 1943's The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, which is wonderful. Hear the whole thing down below.

'Press Play With Madeleine Brand': Being Charmed by 'Thelma'
Katie Walsh and I were on KCRW yesterday reviewing L.A.'s new releases, including The Bikeriders, Kinds of Kindness and Fancy Dance. We also talked about the action-comedy starring June Squibb, who gets her Tom Cruise on in Thelma. Check us out down below.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Talking 'Arrival' and 'Short Term 12'
On this week's episode of the Grierson & Leitch podcast, we review Arrival, Loving and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk. Plus, in our Reboot segment, we take a look back at 2013's Short Term 12. But the elephant in the room is the Trump presidential victory, which we didn't want to talk about but is everywhere in our conversation. Nobody other than me will notice, but there's a moment while discussing Short Term 12 where I almost got choked up. Check out the podcast here.

'Loving' and Racism's Quiet Force
Over at The New Republic, I wrote about Loving, which I saw for the first time at Cannes. I respected what writer-director Jeff Nichols attempted -- a smarter, stripped-down, no-fuss variation on the typical awards-bait drama -- without fully going for it. A second viewing helped put some thoughts into sharper focus. You can read my review here.

Cannes 2016: 'Loving' Review
It brings me no joy to report that Loving disappointed me. Writer-director Jeff Nichols has made four terrific features, but his latest is a touch too stolid for my tastes. It dramatizes the true story of an interracial couple whose marriage in 1958 landed them in jail. I admired the movie far more than I loved it, as I explain in my Screen International review.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Richard Linklater, 'Shotgun Stories' and 'Shattered Glass'
On this week's podcast, I talk about Everybody Wants Some!! -- Will hasn't seen it yet -- and we also turn the calendar back to the aughts to discuss Shattered Glass and Shotgun Stories. Spoiler: I'm a big fan of all three. Check it out.

The Grierson & Leitch Podcast: Talking Batman, Superman and 'Frank'
This week's installment of our New Republic podcast covers Midnight Special, of which we're both a fan. But we also dive into our ranking of all the Batman and Superman movies. And after a listener suggested we go back and review Frank, we took the opportunity to give the film a second chance ... not that it helped either of our assessment of the movie much. Feel free to give a listen.

'What the Flick?!': Talking 'Midnight Special,' 'Krisha' and Terrence Malick
I was pleased to be back on What the Flick?! to discuss recent and upcoming releases. Watch as I praise Midnight Special and Jeff Nichols, say nice things about the indie drama Krisha, and defend Terrence Malick's latest.

'Midnight Special' Review
Writer-director Jeff Nichols has done it again. Continuing a hit streak that started with Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter and Mud, he returns with the smart sci-fi thriller Midnight Special. I really flipped for it, which will become clear when you read my New Republic review.

'take shelter' review
Yeah, Take Shelter is terrific. Writer-director Jeff Nichols and star Michael Shannon performed their magic first in 2007's Shotgun Stories, and they've returned with an even more resonant film. I gush about Take Shelter in my Yahoo review.

6. Flight of the Red Balloon
5. Vicky Cristina Barcelona

If you've seen the Oscar nominations this morning, you can see that there's very little for me to get excited about for this year's awards show.
