There is a movie that premiered in Toronto that stars Oscar Isaac and Christian Bale, and I'm betting you've heard nothing about it. That's a bad sign, and indeed The Promise is a dud. The period war drama focuses on the atrocities of the Armenian genocide, and although Isaac is pretty good in the film, I found it painfully old-fashioned.
