Some Thoughts on 'The Equalizer 2'
Why do we love movies about action heroes who walked away from their old life?
Are real-life fight scenes in moving cars similar to the ones we see in films?
What movie should Denzel Washington have revisited for a sequel?
I answer those questions, and more, after watching The Equalizer 2. Read all about it over at MEL.

Some Thoughts on 'Skyscraper'
The latest from Dwayne Johnson ended up being a commercial disappointment. You'd think a film that pays homage to Die Hard and features one of the planet's most charismatic actors would do better. For MEL, I talked about how that Bruce Willis film ushered in a new era of action flick -- and how Skyscraper represents the end of that era. Plus, I riff on duct tape and asthma. You can read it all here.

Some Thoughts on the New Season of 'Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee'
For MEL, I wrote about Jerry Seinfeld, a brilliant comic, and the very mixed feelings I had about the 10th season of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, a show I've often really liked. (As an added bonus, I rank my five all-time favorite episodes.) You can read the whole thing here.

Some Thoughts on 'Ant-Man and the Wasp'
Is Paul Rudd smug?
Is truth serum a real thing?
What is Michelle Pfeiffer's best film of 2018?
I answer those questions, and explain why I want more small-stakes blockbusters like Ant-Man and the Wasp, over at MEL.

Some Thoughts on 'Sicario: Day of the Soldado'
For MEL, I wrote about Sicario: Day of the Soldado. Specifically, I talked about why the sequel made me so angry. Plus, I investigate being shot in the face. (Don't worry, I didn't try it on myself.) I also discuss movie stars doing TV commercials and why I miss Johann Johannsson. You can read the piece here.

Some Thoughts on 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom'
Over at MEL, I make the somewhat ridiculous contention that I could star in a Jurassic Park movie and it would make about as much money as it would if it starred Chris Pratt. I also have thoughts about Jeff Goldblum and high heels. You can read the whole thing here.

Some Thoughts on 'Incredibles 2'
Epilepsy. Corporate partnerships. The relative resilience of the Pixar brand. The questionable parental abilities of Mr. Incredible. I cover all that in my Monday morning thoughts on Incredibles 2, which you can read over at MEL.

Some Thoughts on 'Ocean's 8'
For MEL, I dove deep on Ocean's 8, focusing on why I think the movie didn't suffer the same fate as the all-female Ghostbusters. I also have some thoughts about Anne Hathaway and George Clooney. You can read the whole thing here.

Some Thoughts on Kanye West and 'Ye'
Kanye West released his latest album, Ye, on Friday. For MEL, I wrote about why I still love the guy. I also talked about the apparent comeback of short albums, the strangeness of listening parties, and the two artists I feel especially bad for this week. Read the whole thing here.

Some Thoughts on 'Solo'
I am surrounded by people who didn't much like Solo ... or Rogue One, for that matter. I liked them both quite a lot. So, for MEL, I decided to explore why that is. I also wrote about Alden Ehrenreich, Lobot, Solo plastic cups and Clint Howard. You can read the whole thing here.

Some Thoughts on 'Deadpool 2'
Is luck the greatest superpower? What is dubstep? And how can Deadpool 2 pretend to be the snarky outsider now that it has so many more commercial expectations attached to it? I answered those questions, and others, over at MEL.

Some Thoughts on HBO's 'Fahrenheit 451'
The new adaptation comes to HBO this weekend. Guess what? It's now a dark commentary about the Trump era. For MEL, I talked about why I'm tired of that sales pitch. I also discuss the 1966 film and whether we still like physical books in 2018. Hope you enjoy.

Some Thoughts on 'Cobra Kai'
Thirty-four years after The Karate Kid, its two main adversaries reunite in the YouTube Red series Cobra Kai. For MEL, I wrote about the show, which I found to be a pretty sober examination about what happens when you don't get over your high school traumas. You can read the piece here.
