To be fair, I have come around to enjoying Jesse Eisenberg in these magician-thief movies. On the other hand ... this franchise is just so dumb. I reviewed Now You Don't for Screen International.

'A Good Person' Review

'Going in Style' Review

You know what you're gonna get from Going in Style, but I still wish it was a little more inspired. Who doesn't love Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin? Well, their relaxed charm is all this heist comedy has going for it. My review is up at Screen International.

'Ben-Hur' Review

Two things I should admit: I don't necessarily love the Charlton Heston Ben-Hur, and I didn't hate Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. So, his version of Ben-Hur wasn't a proposition I was dreading. And yet, the remake is just kinda so-so. My review is up at Screen International.

'Last Knights' Review

Clive Owen! Morgan Freeman! Swords! Crossbows! These are just some of the selling points of Last Knights, a decidedly threadbare action-adventure film set in ye olde medieval times. I'm going to be honest: I wrote this review weeks ago and remember almost nothing about it. So reading my Screen International piece now will be enlightening for me as well. Here it is.
