When a documentary is meant to promote a re-release of a classic album, the documentary tends to be pretty watered-down. Then there's
Michael Jackson's Journey..., which traces MJ's exit from the Jackson 5 all the way to the making of his first solo album,
Off the Wall. It's really, really entertaining, but also pretty darn insightful. My only regret was not getting a chance to see it in a full theater. My review is up at
Screen International.
