Spider-Man came out in May 2002. Summer event movies always seem like a big deal, but this one
really seemed like a big deal. Superhero films had gone out of fashion -- you can thank
Batman & Robin for that -- but this was an unabashed superhero movie. Adding to its enormity was that fact that it seemed for a while that we'd never get a Spider-Man movie because of insurmountable legal hurdles. Well, you know the rest. For
